Introduction to DevelopmentWorks® is a one day workshop designed to give users a jump start in the most powerful use of the web-based tool
DEVELOPMENTWORKS®
The course reinforces the motivation for both development planning and for effective use of the software. Included in the workshop is an overview of the Professional Development Process, which incorporates both career and performance development planning. The workshop is delivered by CDT trainers, or by CDT trained and certified corporate trainers under license.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

• Introduction. The purpose and objectives of the course are reviewed, focusing on the benefits of Professional Development planning and individual motivation to have a plan. Participants discuss taking responsibility for their own effective career and performance development.
  


• The Big Picture. Development planning is presented in the greater context of world and market issues. Plans are seen as inextricably linked to and determined by the greater needs of the marketplace and the organization, rather than by isolated individual goals.
  


• Introduction to the Professional Development Process. The Professional Development Process is described in detail using the model employed in DevelopmentWorks® AIM...PD, the AIM is Professional Development. Assessment; Investigation; Matching; and Professional Development.
  


• Using DevelopmentWorks®. Participants are taken through an exploration of DevelopmentWorks® and the ways it can be used to address a wide variety of needs. Each section of the program is demonstrated in detail. Effective navigation, use of each of the tools, the relationship among the sections, and hints and tricks to provide maximum benefit in using the program are described. Emphasis is placed on ongoing use of the Internet tools in the Investigation section to keep current and informed, and in specifying development activities and opportunities that match the individualûs development to the organizationûs needs.

The session is interactive and questions are encouraged throughout.
