CDT consulted on a broad initiative to create new processes to support talent development at Discover Financial. Few existing development processes were in place. Discover was beginning to feel the pressures of keeping talent, and had recruitment and retention issues due to lack of development paths, the pervasive perception that only promotions are career growth, and a lack of training for managers in coaching development conversations.

Discover chose to bring our programs and tools in through a top-down implementation. CDT’s
Managing Development Planning™ program for managers and executives was given to 200 officers and directors, including their Executive Team. Thousands of employees have been through our one-day Career Challenge™ class, facilitated by their in-house trainers through a Train-the-Trainer licensing agreement. All class participants have ongoing access to our DevelopmentWorks® online software to support their development planning.
